Default Planning to build a forum.

That's right I am going to try and build a forum from nothing.

Not really sure what to include and not include. so her is a list of ideas i have had.

  • SEO out the box with url rewrites as a default opsion
  • TotallyCSS design ^to make it seo^^
  • Simple framework like vanilla
  • A build in admin, not like vbulletin were its on a different section, ( still password checked)
  • Akismet spam filter.
  • good report and ban features.

what do you think got any better ideas?

thanks, Simon

Is this the type where members can sign up and create their own free remotly hosted message board or forum software like VB?

It will be a open source forum so you download it and run it off your server, i might latter have it so you can run the forum off my server like a subdomain etc.

Sounds good! We could use a good free forum software. Make sure it has plenty of customizability like VB

I was joined to a website once that allowed members to customize their profiles as in drag different modules to different places, and customize the images in the profile section. One this I would strongly suggest is making the admin panel easy to navigate around. No disrespect to phpbb, but I found phpbb admin panel really hard to find my way around.

No I have never tryed vanilla, I like things to be less complicated. Have you thought of any new features that you are going add?

You could allow people to sign up and have their own free remotly hosted message board, then charge a small fee for them to to buy the software and put it on their own server.
